Multimedia Sculpture Project Progress

For my multimedia project, I am making a mountain. To embody the prompt of memory, this piece is inspired by my time in the mountains with my family when I was younger. The piece will have three layers- the first of which is a plaster cast. Over the past week, I finished the clay mold for the plaster to pour into and set it in to dry. The next step will be to break off the brittle clay to reveal the form. I have also been whittling the top of the mountain. My idea is for each "tier" of this piece to get progressively less detailed as it goes down, showing how memory fades over time. The tip (made of whittled wood), will be the most detailed, and it will show the core element of my memory of this experience: the tip of the mountain and my family. I am enjoying this project so far, despite the fact that it has been challenging and has required some problem solving.
