When reflecting on my "play pages" in my sketchbook over the past month, I have come to some conclusions on my trends and favored materials and subjects.
Subject: While my play pages were quite varied in subject, as I made an effort to do, there were the most animals/ live organisms, abstract shapes, and fantasy elements. Among these were featured bears, dragons, and flowing lines.

Content: The main theme that emerged was life. I spent a long time working with living subjects. When exploring mediums rather than subject, I also focused on the idea of the octopus and the tentacle: flexible and quick to attach itself to other things and make connections.

Medium: I enjoy using pen and pencil as mediums the most, because it is fun to create form using something so simple. I also liked drawing in marker, something pretty new for me.

Form/ Process: I enjoy 2D art the most because it is a fun challenge to try to convey a 3D object in 2D. It is also a more accessible form of art and is simpler to do in a non-studio space.

Enjoyment: I enjoyed drawing the abstract pages and living creature pages the most. The abstract ones were fun because I didn't have to worry about what they looked like and could just play with the medium. The objective animal pages were also fun because I don't draw those very often and its fun to replicate fur or nonhuman proportions.

Critique: I think my most successful pages were the ones that pushed me out of my comfort zone with new subjects but were still drawings. When I tried to use
use found objects such as pasta or orange peels, I think I didn't make as successful of a product because I still need practice with that kind of creation. I think this could be improved on with time.
