Guest Artist: Dan Kanach

I enjoyed listening to Dan Kanach's guest lecture. It was cool to see his various digital designs, animated and stationary. It was also cool to hear his advice on how to be a sucessful artist, which came down to putting yourself out there. He emphasized that the best way to make money as an artist or win awards or comissions is to enter into lots of competitions and apply to many programs, even if you think you will not make it. He said in corportate situations or when teaching art, you become the expert and need to stop comparing yourself to others. You need to trust your judgment and your skill and put yourself out there. I found this very useful advice. Overall, I enjoyed learning about this part of being an artist and seeing Kanach's art.
